WBCO invites you to our 2026 Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thurs, September 24/26 at 6pm, in the mini-gym at Crossways in Common (222 Furby St). Please see the letter below for more information.

This year's agenda includes the approval of WBCO’s revised by-laws. Please take the time to review the current and proposed documents prior to attending the event.

On behalf of the West Broadway Community Organization (WBCO) Board of Directors, I am pleased to invite you to attend our 29th Annual General Meeting on Sept 24th, 2026 at 6:00 pm. The meeting will be held in the Mini-Gym at Crossways in Common, located at 222 Furby Street. If you live, work, or volunteer in West Broadway and wish to attend, please RSVP to [email protected].

WBCO is a not-for-profit, charitable organization working to coordinate and support social, economic, and environmental development efforts in Winnipeg’s West Broadway neighbourhood. WBCO functions as both a residents’ association and a Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation; working with neighbours, community-based organizations, businesses, government, and other stakeholders to achieve community goals prioritized through regular intensive consultation and planning efforts.

The agenda for this year’s AGM will include:

1. A report from the Board of Directors

2. A report from WBCO Staff

3. A review of the 2025 audited financial statements and Treasurer’s report

4. Appointment of Auditor for the next fiscal year

5. Approval of WBCO’s revised by-laws (copy of draft by-laws attached)

6. Election of new and existing members to the WBCO Board of Directors

7. Awards ceremony for outstanding community service

WBCO is committed to equity and diversity and especially welcomes applications for the Board of Directors from residents of West Broadway of all sexual orientations and gender identities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, tenants, youth over 18, seniors and newcomers to Canada. Applicants who possess professional or lived experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply; law, housing, harm reduction, food security, construction, advocacy, fundraising, Indigenous knowledge or organizational management. All Board Members will be committed to advancing WBCO’s goals and policies. They will participate in monthly board meetings, sit on one standing committee, and represent WBCO at community events. Self-nominations are welcome. All nominees are required to submit a short bio to [email protected] outlining why they are interested in serving on the WBCO Board of Directors. Please submit nominations by September 4, 2026. Please note our bylaws do not allow for nominations from the floor at the AGM. ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS OF BOARD MEMBERS

Attend monthly board meetings and participate in committee work.

Support and guide the organization’s work.

Be an advocate for the organization and its work in the community.

Oversee financial management.

Commit to a term of 3 years, with the possibility of renewal.

ORIENTATION AND TRAINING

New board members will receive an orientation session to familiarize themselves with the

organization’s operations, strategic plan, and their roles.

On going training sessions will be provided as necessary.

CODE OF CONDUCT AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICIES

Board members are expected to adhere to the highest ethical standards and declare any potential conflicts of interest.
